The Estuary Projects Installation: Gwendolyn Yvette Stinson

  • 95 Claybourne St Boston, MA, 02124 United States (map)

Remembering the apocalypse and re-imagining the new world. A 10 part installation series anchored in Roxbury, MA.

Fifteen year-old Gwendolyn never returned home after leaving to check in with a friend. Her mother, Elizabeth Muse, reported missing after searching the neighborhood for several hours.

Gwendolyn was found in a yard near her home in Dorchester on February 2nd, 1979. She was a lively young girl who was saving up for a gymnastics camp. As one of 10 children, Gwendolyn enjoyed the love of big family, her siblings often joked she was the favorite. Gwendolyn’s mother, searched for answers and spoke publicly about the police’s mishandling of the case. In spite of her loss, she marched on city hall, alongside other residents to demand transparency from the police.
